A few years ago, it was the reign of jeans and Kurtis pants. Almost all women, be it a college goers or homemaker, she was seen in a pair of straight cut or boot cut jeans with a colorful Indian Kurti. The image has changed, but only a little. The pair of jeans has been replaced by what is known as leggings.

The trend of leggings is definitely not a new one. It all started back in the 70s, when they were called tights or pants. However, leggings or tights then mated with shorter tops, mainly jersey tops. Now, the current rage is even leggings with ethnic and vibrant designer Kurtis. Gaiters are very important in Western fashion as well but those are usually printed leggings. When it comes to fashion India, leggings are generally opted from solid colors like black, brown, navy, blue, brown or soft neutrals like white, beige, gray, etc .. Gaiters are the substitute fashionable and more for the Indian Churidar. While Churidar is made of a variety of fabrics such as cotton, georgette, silk crepe or depending on the whole, gaiters are mainly made of cotton lycra blend or mixture of nylon-lycra. Spats with Western suits are often the knee or ankle length leggings while to mate with India Kurtis often extend beyond the ankle length to give the appearance of Churidar forming gathers around the ankle region.

They mate with long designer Kurtis, in bold colors. Kurtis short leggings are very flattering and therefore, most women choose not to wear leggings short Kurtis. Gaiters are adjusted, often mate with Kurtis long bell-shaped, rather than long Kurtis adjusted. Kurtis flared or crushed designer kurtis, designer spats contrast represents in fact an elegant look.
